13 Killed by Poisonous Gas in Chinese Coal Mine

Poisonous gas has killed 13 workers in a coal mine in northern China.

Chinese state-run media report the incident occurred Wednesday in northern Shanxi province. A 14th worker was able to escape the mine and is being treated for injuries.

The accident is the latest disaster to strike China's mines, which are the world's deadliest. More than 5,000 people have been killed in Chinese mines so far this year.
