Football: Singapore Defeats Burma 4-3 in First Leg of Tiger Cup Series


Singapore's national football team has defeated Burma, 4-3, in the first leg of their semi-final series in the Tiger Cup tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Singapore scored first in the 21st minute when Mark Daniel Bennet scored. Burma tied the match 14 minutes later on a goal from skipper Soe Myat Min. Min Thu gave Burma the lead two minutes later on a free kick from 30 meters out.

Singapore took advantage of defensive mistakes and evened the match in the 40th minute when Agu Casmir scored. Singapore took the lead to stay on Noh Alam Shah's 63rd minute goal.

A free kick goal by Shahrul Ishak put Singapore ahead, 4-2, before Soe Myat Min added Burma's third score.

The second leg of the two-match series is scheduled for January 2 in Singapore. The winner of this series faces the winner of a series between Indonesia and Malaysia in the tournament finals.
