Turkmenistan has cut off natural gas supplies to Russia and Ukraine but says it will resume deliveries in return for higher prices.
The foreign ministry in Ashgabat says some price negotiations with Moscow already have taken place, and a Russian delegation is due to visit early this month.
Turkmenistan says it is also ready to talk with the new Ukrainian authorities about new prices for natural gas supplies.
Ukraine depends on energy imports, especially natural gas from Russia and Turkmenistan, for about 85 percent of its energy requirements.
Turkmenistan initially said the interruption in gas supplies to Russia was due to pipeline repairs and that shipments would resume January seventh.
