Sectarian violence is spreading in northern Pakistan, a day after 14 people were killed in the town of Gilgit following the shooting of a minority Shi'ite Muslim leader.
Officials say a crowd of angry youth attacked local government offices in the town of Karimabad overnight, while hundreds of Shi'ites in Skardu, another Himalayan town, staged a protest rally Sunday.
No incidents were reported in Gilgit Sunday after authorities imposed an around-the-clock curfew and troops were ordered to shoot on sight anyone caught in the streets.
Riots erupted Saturday after unidentified gunmen attacked the Muslim cleric, critically wounding him and killing two of his guards. One gunman was also killed.
In southern Pakistan, meanwhile, a rocket attack late Saturday on a natural-gas pipeline killed a woman and injured 14 other people.
