A Chilean appeals court has upheld bail for ex-dictator Augusto Pinochet, who has been under house arrest on murder and kidnapping charges.
A judge Monday set bail for the 89-year-old retired general at $3,500.
General Pinochet has been indicted on one count of murder and nine counts of kidnapping. The charges stem from "Operation Condor," a plan implemented in the 1970's by Latin American military leaders to repress political opposition.
More than 3,000 people died or disappeared during general Pinochet's 17-year rule which ended in 1990.
