Vietnamese officials say a teenager suspected of having bird flu has died.
They say the 17-year-old died Saturday in the southern province of Bac Lieu. If tests confirm he died of bird flu, he would be the sixth person in Vietnam to die of the disease in two weeks.
On Friday, a women from another southern province, Tra Vinh, died of bird flu after being hospitalized with a high fever and breathing difficulties.
Bird flu ravaged poultry farms across 10 countries in Asia last year and jumped to humans in Thailand and Vietnam.
Since late 2003, at least 25 Vietnamese have died of the lethal (H5N1) strain of avian influenza. Twelve people have died in Thailand.
