Bomb Blast at Opposition Rally Kills 4 in Bangladesh

A bomb blast at an opposition rally in northeastern Bangladesh has killed four people and wounded 30 others.

The explosion rocked an Awami League rally at Laskarpur. Former finance minister Shah Kibria was seriously wounded in the explosion and hours later, former prime minister and Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina told VOA that Mr. Kibria died of his wounds. Ms. Hasina said she holds the government responsible for the blast because it has failed to punish those behind previous attacks.

Last year, Ms. Hasina narrowly escaped injury when at least three grenades exploded at her rally. More that 20 people were killed in that attack, and hundreds were wounded.
