Kuwait authorities say a policeman, a suspected militant and a Bahraini man have been killed in a shootout near Kuwait City.
The Interior Ministry said four security officers and a second gunman were wounded in the firefight, which erupted when police stormed a suspected militant hideout. At least one other suspect was taken into custody.
The police raid came after U.S. and Kuwaiti authorities issued statements warning of the likelihood of more attacks against Western targets in the emirate.
It was the third such clash in Kuwait this month. Two security officers and two gunmen were killed in the earlier violence.
