Skiing: Raich Wins Slalom Gold at Bormio

update

Austria's Benjamin Raich captured his fourth medal of the World Ski Championships in Bormio, Italy with a victory in the slalom race.

Raich clocked a combined two-run time of 1:41.34 minutes Saturday, to hold off countryman Ranier Schoenfelder by almost a quarter-second. Italy's Giorgio Rocca was third.

Raich also won the gold medal in last week's combined race. He took silver in the giant slalom and claimed a surprise bronze in the Super-G.

The victory moved Raich ahead of Bode Miller in the medals race. The American fell midway through his second run and did not finish for the third time during the championships. In the two races Miller did complete, he won gold in the Super-G and downhill.
