Brain Damaged Woman Near Death as Legal Efforts Fail

The father of a brain damaged woman is again appealing for Florida's Governor to intervene as the familys legal appeals near an end.

A state judge Saturday rejected the latest appeal from the parents of Terri Schiavo, who plan to appeal that ruling to the State Supreme Court.

Florida Governor Jeb Bush has been a staunch supporter of the efforts of the parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, but he has said he has no legal authoritiy to intervene.

Her parents say they are abandoning their federal appeals, but will continue fighting on the state level. Her father Saturday said his daughter wants to live and is fighting to stay alive.

Mrs. Schiavo's husband, who is her legal guardian, has said his wife would not have wanted to live artificially.
