Al-Qaida Video Purportedly Shows Iraq Execution

A videotape has appeared on a militant website Sunday showing the execution of a man who said he was an Iraqi officer.

The blindfolded man, who identified himself as Iraqi Colonel Ryadh Katie Olyway, was shown being shot in the head by one of three masked men after saying he had collaborated with U.S. forces in Iraq.

In the background was the banner of the terrorist group al-Qaida In Iraq - an organization led by wanted militant leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

The videotape could not be independently authenticated.

In another incident, security forces at Baghdad's Ministry of Science and Technology opened fire on a crowd of employees who were protesting a wage dispute. One person was killed. It is not clear what started the shooting.
