Tennis: Davenport, Zvonareva Advance at Bausch & Lomb Championships

World number one women's tennis player Lindsay Davenport of the United States and Vera Zvonareva of Russia have advanced to the quarterfinals of the rain-delayed Bausch and Lomb championships in Amelia Island, Florida.

The defending champion Davenport scored a straight-set win over Kveta Peschke of the Czech Republic, 6-2, 6-2.

Davenport takes on the winner of a match between fifth seed Venus Williams and Polish qualifier Marta Domachowska. The match was tied at one set apiece when rain washed out afternoon play. Williams and Domachowska will conclude the match Friday.

Zvonareva, the sixth seed, defeated ninth seeded countrywoman Elena Likhovtseva (6-4, 6-4).

The match between second-seeded Serena Williams and former champion Mary Pierce was also moved to Friday. A scheduled night match between third-seeded Anastasia Myskina and number-15 seed Shinobu Asagoe was in doubt because of the weather.
