A multistory building near the Bangladesh capital, Dhaka, collapsed early Monday morning, killing at least 12 people and trapping more than 200 others in the wreckage.
Police say the building at Palashbari, about 18 kilometers from Dhaka, housed a garment factory. It was packed with overnight-shift workers at the time of the accident.
Rescue teams searching through the remains of the building have pulled several survivors from the rubble, and are hunting for others.
It was not immediately clear what caused the collapse. Initial reports say there might have been a boiler explosion.
