Bomb Blast in Nepal Kills Four

Nepali police say one civilian and three policemen were killed in a bomb blast in an eastern part of the country tWednesday.

Officials say Maoist rebels carried out the attack that also wounded five policemen.

The attack occurred as King Gyanendra left for Indonesia to participate in an Asian-African summit, his first foreign trip since assuming absolute powers on February first.

Many world leaders have criticized the king for sacking the government and curbing civil liberties - steps the monarch says are needed to eliminate corruption and defeat the Maoist insurgency that has claimed 11,000 lives since 1996.

Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba Tuesday refused to appear before the Royal Commission for Corruption. It has summoned him for questioning about graft allegations.
