Heat Beat Pistons Even Eastern Finals 1-1


The Miami Heat has evened the National Basketball Association's Eastern Conference Finals with Detroit at 1-1 by scoring a 92-86 win Wednesday in Miami.

Dwyane Wade scored 40 points, including 20 in the fourth quarter. Wade, who only made seven of 25 shots in Game 1, eclipsed 30 points for the sixth time this postseason. Shaquille O'Neal added 17 points and 10 rebounds and Damon Jones had 14 points.

Richard Hamilton had 21 points to lead the visiting NBA champion Pistons, who came back from a 14-point deficit, but could not stop Wade in the fourth quarter.

Game 3 of the best of seven series is Sunday night in Detroit.

The Western Conference Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and the Phoenix Suns resume Saturday. San Antonio leads that series, 2-0.
