update

Insurgent attacks across Iraq Tuesday killed at least 25 people, including three U.S. soldiers.

The deadliest attacks were outside the northern town of Hawija, where three suicide bombers killed 18 people near security checkpoints. Outside Fallujah, a mortar attack killed three Iraqis. And in Baghdad, a drive-by shooting killed a government employee.

The U.S. military says two American soldiers were killed in a shooting incident at a U.S. base in Tikrit, and another soldier was killed in a roadside bomb blast just north of Baghdad.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military says U.S. and Iraqi forces have detained 73 suspected terrorists in Tal Afar, near the Syrian border over the past two weeks.
