World No. 1 women's golfer Annika Sorenstam of Sweden has a five-stroke lead over South Korea's Young Kim headed into the final round of the LPGA Championship, the second major of the year, in Havre de Grace, Maryland.
Sorenstam fired a three-under-par 69 on the Bulle Rock Golf Course and is 12-under-par 204 for the tournament. Kim had a four-under-par 68 in the third round and is seven-under-par 209 for three rounds.
South Korea's Jeong Jang is tied for third with amateur Michelle Wie, Moria Dunn and Natalie Gulbis of the United States and Laura Davies of Britain at five-under-par 211 for the tournament.
Sorenstam is the two-time defending champion of this event and will need the victory to reach her 2005 goal of winning golf's Grand Slam. She won the first of the four major women's events at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in March.
