Iraqis Find 20 Bodies Outside Baghdad

update

Iraqi police say they have found the bodies of 20 unidentified men who were shot in the head.

They say the decomposing bodies were discovered at a military firing range south of Baghdad. A leading Sunni clerical organization in Iraq says witnesses described the dead as Sunni Muslims.

Meanwhile, in northern Iraq, Kurdish lawmakers unanimously elected Massoud Barzani as their regional president. Kurdish officials hope that a regional president will help ensure their autonomy when Iraq drafts its new constitution.

Kurds in northern Iraq have enjoyed relative autonomy since the Gulf War of 1991.

In other developments, the U.S. military says four American soldiers were killed by roadside bombs Saturday in two incidents west of the capital.
