England's cricket team has beaten Australia by nine wickets in the first match of a three-game, one-day international series at Headingley in Leeds, England.
Opener Marcus Trescothick scored 104 not out - his first one-day century against Australia - as England reached 221-1 with four overs to spare.
Captain Michael Vaughan added another 59 runs while Andrew Strauss scored 41 for the hosts.
Earlier, after Vaughan won the toss and elected to field first, Australia scored 219-7 in 50 overs. Michael Hussey top scored with 46 not out. Damien Martyn had 43 runs while Adam Gilchrist added another 42 for the tourists.
The second match of the series is at Lord's on Sunday, with the third match at the Oval on Tuesday. The series is a key warm-up for the Ashes Test series that starts later this month.
