Roddick Defeats Thailand's Paradorn to Reach Legg Mason Finals

Top seed and former U.S. Open champion Andy Roddick has beaten Thailand's Paradorn Srichaphan to reach the finals of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington.

Roddick, a finalist at this year's Wimbledon championships, defeated the Thai player in straight sets 7-6, 6-2 to reach the finals for the 29th time in his career.

Roddick takes on the winner of the other semifinal between American James Blake and 10th-seeded Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic.

In doubles action, Radek Stepanek withdrew from the tournament because of a pulled back muscle. Stepanek and Mark Knowles of the Bahamas were scheduled to meet Wayne Black and Kevin Ullyett of Zimbabwe.

Black and Ullyett will take on the winner of the other doubles semifinal between top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan of the United States and Mahesh Bhupathi of India and Martin Damm of the Czech Republic.
