London Bombing Suspect Remanded Into Custody

A court in London has remanded into custody a man charged with attempting to bomb the London transport system in July.

Ethiopian-born Hamdi Issac, also known as Osman Hussain, made his first court appearance Friday, a day after being extradited to Britain from Italy. His next court date is December 8.

Hamdi Issac was arrested immediately after his arrival in Britain Thursday. He is facing charges including attempted murder and illegal possession of explosives.

Italian police arrested the British citizen in Rome a week after the failed July 21 attacks in London. Those attacks caused no fatalities but brought chaos to London two weeks after suicide bombers killed 52 people in the British capital.

Hamdi Issac has admitted taking part in the second set of attacks but has said the action was meant to scare people, not kill them.
