Britain's Prince Charles and his new wife, Camilla, have visited the site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City, as they begin a weeklong trip to the United States.
After visiting the World Trade Center site Tuesday, the couple traveled to a nearby memorial garden to unveil a stone marker for British victims of the terrorist attacks.
Television reports say few onlookers turned out for a glimpse of the Prince of Wales and his longtime companion, the Duchess of Cornwall, whom he married earlier this year.
Prince Charles also met with U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan at the United Nations. On Wednesday, Prince Charles and Camilla travel to Washington to visit President and Mrs. Bush at the White House.
Friday, the royal couple will visit New Orleans to meet with victims of Hurricane Katrina, which devastated the Gulf Coast in August.
