Mugabe: Zimbabwe to Process Uranium for Electricity

Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe says uranium has been found in the country, and that authorities will use it to produce electricity.

State media in Zimbabwe say Mr. Mugabe made the announcement Saturday at a government-owned power plant. No details were given about the location of the uranium discovery.

It was unclear how authorities plan to process the uranium, as Zimbabwe does not have a nuclear power plant.

The country has been plagued by frequent power shortages in recent years, as the government struggles to pay for electricity imports from nearby countries.
