New Delhi, Karzai Condemn Murder of Indian Roadworker in Afghanistan

India's government has expressed deep shock and outrage at the killing of an Indian road-builder in Afghanistan, kidnapped by Taleban insurgents in southern Nimroz province late Saturday.

India's External Affairs Ministry issued a statement saying New Delhi "strongly condemns this inhuman and barbaric act," while "the Taleban and its backers bear the responsibility for the consequences of this outrageous act."

Afghan President Hamid Karzai also condemned the murder, and said such acts of cowardice will not stop Afghanistan from rebuilding after years of war.

Afghan police found the decapitated body of M. R. Kutty Wednesday on a dirt road in Nimroz.

Also Wedenesday, in southern Uruzgan province, suspected Taleban militants killed three unarmed Afghan policemen as they were walking home. Security forces began a hunt for the attackers.
