Kostelic Takes Czech World Cup Giant Slalom

Croatia's Janica Kostelic has won her first ever women's World Cup giant slalom title in Spindleruv Mlyn, the Czech Republic.

Kostelic finished with a combined time of two minutes, 21.3 seconds.

Kathrin Zettel of Austria was second, 0.08 of one second back. Another Austrian, Marlies Schild, was third (2:21.40).

Kostelic, the reigning Olympic giant slalom champion, had never won the event on the World Cup circuit before.

Kostelic has won previously in World Cup slalom and combined events and claimed the world championships in the downhill, the slalom and the combined.
