Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, hoping to advance peace efforts, has called on militants to stop rocket attacks on Israel.
Mr. Abbas made the appeal during talks Tuesday with militant leaders in the Gaza Strip. But Islamic Jihad members at the talks accused Israel of violating a truce and suggested they would continue to launch attacks on Israel.
Elsewhere in Gaza, Israeli military planes fired missiles at suspected access routes used by Palestinian militants. No casualties were reported.
And three rockets exploded in a residential area of northern Israel, causing some property damage but no casualties.
Officials said they were unsure of the origin of the attack, which occurred near the border with southern Lebanon where Hezbollah militants and Palestinian militants are known to be active.
A Hezbollah spokesman denied any knowledge of the attack.
