Montreal captain Saku Koivu ended a 23-game goal scoring slump Thursday in overtime to give his Canadiens a 3-2 win over the Washington Capitals in National Hockey League action.
Koivu backhanded the puck past Washington goalie Olaf Kolzig with 57 seconds to go in the five-minute extra session to lift the Habs (Canadiens) on their home ice. Montreal is trying to hold on to the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
