North, South Korean Negotiators Meet at Tokyo Conference

South Korea's top nuclear negotiator says he and his North Korean counterpart have met to discuss resuming the six-nation talks on the North's nuclear program.

South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Chun Young-woo says he met with North Korea's chief nuclear negotiator, Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye Gwan for 90 minutes Saturday in Tokyo ahead of a private security conference.

Chun did not provide details of the meeting but says both sides had a frank exchange of views and discussed the situation on the six-party talks.

Representatives of all six nations participating in the nuclear talks are attending the Tokyo conference, though it is unclear if the forum will include discussions on the nuclear dispute.

The U.S. State Department says the U.S. nuclear negotiator, Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill has no plans to meet separately with the North Korean delegation.

The last round of North Korean nuclear talks ended in November.
