Palestinian Rocket Hits Gaza Home; Abbas Hopes for Meeting with Olmert

Palestinian officials say a rocket fired at Israel has veered off course, hitting a house in the northern Gaza Strip.

Witnesses say at least one person was wounded.

The Israeli military says Palestinian militants fired several rockets at the Jewish state Thursday, but none caused any damage.

Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert expressed frustration at continued Palestinian violations of a November 26 ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza.

Israeli officials say Palestinian militants have fired at least 40 rockets into Israel since the two sides agreed to the truce.

Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says he hopes to meet with the Israeli prime minister before the end of the year in an effort to revive the peace process.

Mr. Olmert has said a meeting will take place soon.

Mr. Abbas and Mr. Olmert have met once, informally, since Mr. Olmert's Kadima party formed a coalition government earlier this year.
