Carlo Ponti, Italian Film Producer, Dies at Age 94

Carlo Ponti, one of Italy's best known film producers, and the husband of actress Sophia Loren, has died at the age of 94.

Ponti's family says he died Tuesday night in a hospital in Geneva, Switzerland. He was admitted to the hospital several days earlier suffering lung problems.

Ponti produced classic films such as "La Strada" in 1954 and "Dr. Zhivago" in 1965. He worked with several well-known directors during his career, including Federico Fellini, Jean-Luc Godard and David Lean.
