R. Kelly has written a song to benefit victims of the April 16 shootings at Virginia Tech University. Titled "Rise Up," it will become available May 15 via digital download.
A gunman killed 32 victims and himself on the University's campus in Blacksburg, VA. The 40-year-old Kelly reportedly wrote the inspirational ballad after watching the events on television while traveling to a performance.
A representative for the R & B singer's record label, Jive, says all net sales proceeds will to to the charitable Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund.
The Fund was created to provide assistance and grief conseling for those affected by the shootings.
