Israel Decides to Keep Up Airstrikes on Palestinian Militants

Israel's Security Cabinet has decided to continue military strikes against Palestinian militants firing rockets from Gaza into Israel.

The cabinet said it based the decision on the relative decrease in rocket attacks since Israeli airstrikes started almost two weeks ago. Israel has also conducted a limited number of ground raids against the militants.

A statement from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert added that Israel is not involved in any cease-fire talks with the militants.

Earlier Wednesday, an Israeli airstrike killed two Hamas militants in a northern Gaza refugee camp.

About 50 Palestinians, mostly militants, have been killed in the Israeli attacks. Palestinian rockets have killed two Israelis since mid-May.
