Actor Pierce Brosnan and his wife, Keely Smith, have donated $100,000 to replace unsafe playground equipment at a school near their home in Kauai, Hawaii.
Brosnan, who portrayed James Bond in four films, donated the money to Hawaii 3R's (Repair, Remodel, and Restore Hawaii's schools), a non-profit organization that donated a further $47,800 for the repairs at Hanalei Elementary School.
The new playground is to be dedicated on June 4. The group said it has awarded 317 grants since 2001, totaling $9.3 million for repair and maintenance projects.
