Major League Baseball has announced the 16 starters chosen by fans for next week's All-Star Game.
Slugger Barry Bonds will be the only starter representing the host team - the San Francisco Giants.
Joining Bonds in the outfield for the National League in the July 10 game are Carlos Beltran of the New York Mets and Ken Griffey of the Cincinnati Reds. Other starters voted by the fans are shortstop Jose Reyes and third baseman David Wright of the Mets, along with first baseman Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers, second baseman Chase Utley of the Philadelphia Phillies, and catcher Russ Martin of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
American League starters include three Detroit Tigers - catcher Ivan Rodriguez, second baseman Placido Palanco and outfielder Magglio Ordonez. Getting the most votes was third baseman Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees. He will be joined by teammate Derek Jeter at shortstop. The others are first baseman David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox, outfielder Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners, and outfielder Vladimir Guerrero of the Los Angeles Angels.
