Yemeni officials say at least four Yemeni soldiers were killed and four others are missing after an eruption of a volcano on an island 140 kilometers from Yemen.
Canadian officials said the Canadian ship Toronto, which was in the area, is helping in the search and rescue efforts at the request of the Yemeni coast guard.
Navy spokesman Ken Allen, aboard the Toronto, said he saw volcanic ash spewing into the air after the eruption Sunday on the three-kilometer long island of Jabal al-Tair.
