Vonn Takes Italian Women's WC Downhill Race

American skier Lindsey Vonn has won a World Cup women's downhill race in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy -- her fourth downhill victory of the season.

Vonn covered the 2.822-kilometer Olympia delle Tofane course in one minute, 36.7 seconds. It was her 11th career victory and moved the American into second place in the overall season standings.

Downhill world champion Anja Paerson of Sweden finished second, 0.83 seconds back, with Emily Brydon of Canada third (1:37.90).

Austrian Nicole Hosp -- who did not compete Saturday -- leads the overall season standings with 699 points. Vonn is second with 638 points, while German Maria Riesch is third overall (600 points).
