Australia's cricket team has reached 322-3 and trails India by 204 runs at the end of the third day of their fourth test in Adelaide.
Matthew Hayden moved to third on the list of Australian test century makers when he scored 103 runs for the home side. Ricky Ponting was not out on 79 and Phil Jaques added another 60 runs for Australia in response to India's first innings score of 526.
The century was Hayden's 30th in 94 tests and moved him to third, behind team captain Ponting with 33 centuries and Steve Waugh with 32.
Australia leads the four-test series, 2-1, after winning in Melbourne and Sydney, but losing the third test in Perth. The Aussies need at least a draw to win the series. Australia and India also will play in a triangular one-day series that features Sri Lanka beginning February third in Brisbane.
