Tiger Leads Buick Tourney by 8 Strokes


World No.1 men's golfer Tiger Woods of the United States has increased his lead to eight strokes headed into the final round of the Buick Invitational tournament in San Diego, California.

Woods shot a 6-under-par, 66 on the Torrey Pines South course to move to 18-under-par 198 for three rounds.

This is the first tournament of 2008 for Woods, who is seeking to win this tournament for the sixth time and the fourth in a row.

American Stewart Cink is in second place, eight strokes off the lead at 10-under-par 206 after shooting a 3-under-par 69 in his third round. Joe Durant of the United States is in third place at 9-under-par 207 after shooting a 5-under-par 67 Saturday.

Former British Open winner Justin Leonard of the United States is part of a group of players tied for fourth place, 11 strokes behind Woods at 7-under-par 209.

The tournament is being played on two courses - the Torrey Pines North and South courses. The winner takes home $936,000. The South Course will also be the site of this year's U.S. Open in June.
