Iraqi Police: 1 Killed, 15 Wounded in Suicide Attack in Mosul

Iraqi police say one person has been killed and 15 others wounded in a suicide car bombing on a U.S. patrol in the northern city of Mosul.

The U.S. military says there were no American casualties in Tuesday's attack, which came a day after a roadside bomb killed five U.S. soldiers in Mosul.

Separately, police say 19 bodies and 10 severed heads were found Tuesday near the town of Miqdadiyah, northeast of Baghdad in volatile Diyala province.

In Baghdad, eight people were wounded when a bomb exploded at a police checkpoint.

In other news, the U.S. military says coalition forces have detained 18 suspected terrorists Tuesday during operations to disrupt al-Qaida networks in central and northern Iraq.

A statement says north of Samarra troops captured an alleged al-Qaida associate responsible for supplying roadside bombs and weapons to terrorists in the region.

U.S. forces this month launched an offensive in Diyala province aimed at driving out al-Qaida in Iraq insurgents from the religiously mixed province.
