US Attorney General: US to Cooperate With Turkey Against Rebels, Al-Qaida

The top U.S. law enforcement official says the United States will continue to cooperate with Turkey against Kurdish rebels and al-Qaida militants.

U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey made his comments after meeting Friday with Turkish officials in Ankara.

The U.S. embassy in Ankara says Mukasey began his two-day visit Thursday to thank Turkish officials for their cooperation in fighting terrorism and other law enforcement matters.

Both the United States and Turkey consider the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, a terrorist organization.

Mukasey arrived in Turkey from Baghdad, where he said Iraqis are firmly committed to the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary.
