Four Freed Cuban Dissidents to Arrive in Spain

update

Spanish officials say four Cuban dissidents who were released after spending years in a Havana prison have arrived in Spain.

The Cubans landed at a military airport in Madrid Sunday after flying aboard a Spanish air force plane.

The four have been identified as Pedro Pablo Alvarez Ramos, Omar Pernet Hernandez, Jose Gabriel Ramon Castillo and Alejandro Gonzalez Raga.

Spanish news media reported Friday that Cuba would release seven dissidents for health reasons and that four of them would fly to Spain

The dissidents were among 75 people rounded up by Cuban authorities in 2003 and sentenced to prison terms of up to 28 years for treason and having contact with the U.S. Interests Section in Havana.
