Iraqi Police: At Least 4 Killed in Car Bombings in Baghdad

Iraqi police say two car bombings in Baghdad Saturday have killed at least four people and wounded 20 others.

Police officials say one car bomber struck a police patrol in a western area of the capital, killing a civilian. They say the other car bombing killed three civilians.

To the north, local officials say the governor of Mosul escaped unharmed when gunmen opened fire on his motorcade in an attempt on his life.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military says coalition forces have killed four suspected terrorists and detained five others in operations in northern Iraq.

A statement says the troops were targeting foreign terrorist safe-houses when they were attacked in a town southwest of Mosul. It says coalition forces returned fire, killing four suspects.

The military also says coalition forces detained five suspected militants during a raid in Mosul. It says two of the men are accused of conspiring with senior al-Qaida in Iraq leaders in the city.
