Russia has beaten Sweden, 2-0 while Spain downed Greece, 2-1 in Group-D
action at the European football championships in Innsbruck, Austria.
The
Russians got goals from Roman Pavlyuchenko in the 24th minute and
Andrei Arshavin in the 50th minute to seal the win and secure a berth
in the quarterfinals. The Russians face the Netherlands in the round
of eight in Basel, Switzerland, Saturday.
Meanwhile, Spain
remained undefeated with its win over Greece. Dani Guiza and Ruben de
la Red scored second-half goals for the Spanish while Angelos
Charisteas scored the Greeks' only goal. The defending champions ended
group play with no wins and no draws in group play.
Spain will face Italy in the quarterfinals in Vienna Sunday.
