Jacob Zuma, who is set to be named president by South Africa's parliament, will likely reveal his cabinet by Sunday.
Government spokesman Themba Maseko told reporters Tuesday that Zuma is expected to announce the cabinet lineup by May 10.
Investors are eager to see whether Finance Minister Trevor Manuel retains his post. Manuel is widely respected by the business community but has clashed with unions.
Zuma heads the African National Congress party, which has ruled South Africa since the end of apartheid, and won a resounding victory in elections last month.
The ANC-dominated parliament is expected to elect Zuma as president on Wednesday.
The new president will be sworn in on Saturday.
