Bombs Across Iraq Kill 18

Police in Iraq say a spate of bombings across the country Monday killed at least 18 people and wounded more than 40 others.

Officials say the deadliest attack took place at a checkpoint near the city of Ramadi in western Anbar province, where a suicide car attacker killed eight people and wounded at least 15 others.

Hours later, another suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance of a Shi'ite mosque in Baquba in central Iraqi, killing at least five worshippers and wounding 20 others.

In a separate attack, near the Shi'ite Muslim holy city of Karbala in the south, a bomb placed in a minibus killed four people and wounded four others.

Also Monday, police say two car bombs exploded in separate districts of Baghdad. One of the explosions killed a civilian and wounded at least three other people.
