Tennis Agassi Enters Masters Series Finals - 2002-05-12

American tennis star Andre Agassi will face Germany's Tommy Haas in the finals of the Tennis Masters Series clay-court tournament in Rome on Sunday.

Agassi scored a straight-set win over Jiri Novak of the Czech Republic, 7-5, 6-4 on Saturday. Haas defeated American Andy Roddick, 6-1, 7-5.

For the 32-year-old Agassi, it will be the first time he reaches the finals of the Rome tournament since 1989, when he lost in five sets to Argentina's Alberto Mancini after having a championship point.

In women's tennis, Belgian teenager Justine Henin upset American Jennifer Capriati, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, to reach the final of the Eurocard Open clay court tournament in Berlin.

Henin also spoiled Capriati's bid to regain the world's number one ranking from fellow American Venus Williams.

In the final, Henin will face Venus's younger sister Serena Williams, who defeated Anna Smashova of Israel 6-3, 6-2. Sunday will mark Serena's first clay court final.
