Three-time defending champion Lance Armstrong of the United States remains the leader in cycling's Tour de France. Armstrong will continue to wear the yellow jersey after his second straight stage victory, a grueling mountain ride that covered just under 200 kilometers (199.5 kilometers from Lannemezan to Plateau-de-Beille).
Armstrong's U.S. Postal teammate Roberto Heras of Spain was second Friday and Spaniard Joseba Beloki of the ONCE team was third. With his win in 6:00:29, Armstrong extended his overall lead in the Tour to 2:28 over Beloki.
Frenchman Laurent Jalabert dominated the majority of the stage in the Pyrrenees in a repeat of his performance on Thursday, but he was overtaken by Armstrong's chasing group with about nine kilometers to go.
