Dateline: African Union - 2002-07-27

In Durban, South Africa earlier this month (July), over 30 African leaders gathered to launch a new pan-African organization.

The Africa Union or AU has formally replaced the Organization of African Unity founded in 1963.

As Carol Castiel reports in this edition of Dateline, the new African Union is meant to be much stronger than the OAU.
