Cyclist Millar Wins 17th Stage of Tour of Spain - 2003-09-24

Britain's David Millar has won the 17th stage of the Tour of Spain, but Spain's Isidro Nozal retained the overall lead headed into the race's last four days.

Millar sprinted away from a lead pack of riders to win the 188.4 kilometer stage in three hours, 58 minutes, two seconds. Alberto Martinez of Spain was second, 36 seconds back with Oscar Sevilla of Spain third with the same time as Martinez.

Isidro Nozal remains the overall leader, three minutes, three seconds ahead of Igor Gonzalez de Galdeano of Spain. Roberto Heras of the U.S. Postal Service team is third overall, three minutes, nine seconds behind Nozal.

Thursday's 18th stage is one of the shortest in the Tour, covering 143.8 kilometers. The Tour ends in Madrid on Sunday.
