Swedish Skiier Paerson Wins 3rd Alpine World Cup Race of Season

Sweden's Anja Paerson has won her third alpine skiing World Cup race of the season, taking a women's slalom Tuesday in Madonna Di Campiglio, Italy, by a convincing margin.

Paerson was second in the first run down the course but was fastest in the second run. Her combined time was 0.81 seconds better than second-place Laure Pequegnot of France. Austrian Nicole Hosp was third. Christel Pascal of France was fourth and American Kristina Koznick was fifth.

Paerson's victory extends her lead in the overall World Cup standings with 430 points. She's 164 points ahead of Carole Montillet of France.

Tuesday's race was scheduled to be held at the Czech resort of Spindleruv Mlyn, but was moved to Madonna Di Campiglio, Italy, because of a lack of snow.
